Active Minds is a student mental health advocacy and awareness organization that provides numerous resources and implements various efforts in advancing mental health awareness', including suicide prevention, depression, anxiety, etc.
Our purpose is to fortify campus-wide support by hosting, educating, and fostering a community of encouragement and understanding, by students, for students.

Members can list their involvement within Active Minds on their resume as advocacy, mental health, or event/marketing experience. Psychology majors in particular can gain better understanding of various mental health acknowledgements outside the classroom and build off of that from personal interactions with fellow members. All members regardless of their major, however, will create many new friendships through Active Minds, and furthermore be surrounded by like-minded individuals who will provide an abundancy of support and togetherness.

Activity & Service Fee is a per-credit fee that all students pay. These fees are awarded through three processes whose corresponding forms can be found in this organization: Annual Budget, Travel Grants, and Project Grants. Annual Budgets are awarded to Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), Sports Club Council, Departments, and other similar entitites on a yearly basis during the spring budget process. Travel Grants are given to undergraduate and graduate students who are travelling to advance their educational experience in their area of study or interest. Project Grants are given to active RSOs and departments NOT FUNDED through the yearly budget process and are to be used for one-time activities that promote the mission of the organization and/or enhance University-wide programm

The African American Student Association's primary objectives are to promote humanism within the University community and improve the educational, social, and political environment among African American students. Establish and maintain a line of communication among African American students, other student organizations, student government, and the administration of the University of West Florida. AASA strives to develop programs (educational, social, and entertaining) that are beneficial to the development of a wider perspective of diversity, culture, acceptance, and engagement in the UWF community. Alpha Chi Omega at UWF is a sisterhood of motivated, energetic women who are leaders on campus and in the classroom. Since 2006, the Kappa Xi chapter of AXO has been serving the Pensacola community by raising money for domestic violence prevention. UWF Alpha Chis are also known as passionate advocates for survivors of sexual violence. Outside of philanthropy, sisters get excited about intramural sports, tailgates, campus organizations like the UWF Ambassadors, and any opportunity to hang out together, whether it's a study date or a beach day.

The purpose of this group is to allow students to collaborate on AI research projects and participate in data science competitions to help prepare them for careers in AI research and data science. We meet on a weekly basis to discuss research projects we're working on and prepare for competitions we're planning on participating in.

Group members are free to participate in whichever activities spark their interest, and are encouraged to bring in their own research projects and competitions they're interested in. Deep learning in particular is what the group usually focuses on, but our projects are by no means limited to that. We encourage our members to explore their own interests and collaborate with other like-minded students in the group. Founded in 2015, the Cyber Security Club is a special interest organization that mainly focuses on the growth of member's knowledge in cybersecurity. We keep an open door style membership by having no requirements to join other than to be an eager learner!

Below you will find our schedule for the upcoming semester. Also we will be having our meeting on campus again this semester so looking forward to seeing everyone! In the fall we focus more on offensive cyber security as we compete in the Global Collegiate Penetration Testing competition, and in the spring we flip to defense as we compete in the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition.

For the Fall 2025 Semester, meetings take place every Friday at 4:30. We meet in-person in Building 4, room 248. If you can't make it in-person, a Zoom link is available for every meeting on our Discord Server!

The Dance Club is made up of two groups. The Argonettes Dance Team and Dance Club members. The Argonettes are the Official Dance Team for the University of West Florida. They perform at various events within the Pensacola community, as well as Football and Basketball games. If you aren't interested in performing, no worries! Dance Team Auditions
Participants will learn choreography and technique for two days, and on the third, audition in front of a panel of judges. Specific requirements/commitments vary per season and are finalized and explicitly stated in the tryout packet that those wishing to audition must fill out and submit prior to the first day of auditions. Dues
For the team, it is $50 per semester. The club is $5 per semester. Dues and the budget allocated to our club through Sports Clubs are used to purchase costumes. These costumes are the property of the school/club and are administered for performances by team or club, and then immediately collected after the event. Occasionally, team members will be required to purchase items such as sideline shoes/tights/cosmetics/etc. These items/expenses are outlined in the contract that is signed after individuals audition and make the team.

Cyberdo Ju-Jitsu is derived from the traditional Bushikan Jujutsu, which was originally conceived by Samurai to utilize in combat when unarmed and facing armed and armored opponents. Cyberdo Ju-Jitsu employs techniques from various martial arts in order to make students well-rounded and capable martial artists. Not only will participants be able to exercise and work on their strength and conditioning, but students will also develop practical skills to keep them safe as well as self-discipline necessary for any form of physical training. Cyberdo Ju-Jitsu is an all-encompassing style that teaches students to use strikes, throws, takedowns, joint locks and submissions for self-defense and competitive reasons. Cyberdo Ju-Jitsu employs striking techniques found in Boxing, Karate, Kickboxing, Kung Fu, Taekwondo, and Hapkido. Cyberdo Ju-Jitsu also trains students to utilize traditional Judo and Aikido throws, Wrestling takedowns and takedown defenses, and joint locks, submissions and ground work utilized in Judo, Wrestling, and both JJJ and BJJ. Cyberdo Ju-Jitsu classes and practices are held in the HLS Facility. Anyone is welcome to join, experience is not necessary in any martial arts but those with experience are more than welcome. If students are looking to get in shape, as well as learn self-defense techniques or to acquire martial arts knowledge, Cyberdo Ju-Jitsu is a great environment for them to do so. Come ready to work hard and play hard. No Gi necessary (though always encouraged).

The Marine Ecology Research Society (MERS) is an organization of students with a passion for marine biology and environmental science. MERS is highly malleable by the undergraduate members, and we actively encourage their participation in making MERS even better. Thanks to the hard work of tank managers, MERS officers, and volunteers, this tank is now home to many types of coral, invertebrates, and fish. We are a competitive trial team who competes against different Universities in a "mock" trial setting using a hypothetical court case released by the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA). Each year the case is switched between a civil case and a criminal case and every University receives the same materials to compete against each other with. Some of the skills our members learn are preparing opening statements/closing arguments, learning how to structure direct and cross-examination questions, learning more evidence issues, and much more. Our team has won numerous awards at competitions such as individual outstanding attorney/witness awards, the Spirit of AMTA Award, and ranking at many competitions. We schedule local trips, educational meetings, offer discounts for gear and training through dive pros, and offer affordable rental for students who do not own their own gear.

Our chapter at UWF participates in various community and fundraising events in our area. Some community events include walks or providing free blood pressure checks. SNA will receive a portion of the money made during our specified fundraising time depending on how many members participate. We always have tons of fun, both at community and fundraising events because it gives us the chance to network and be involved outside of campus. We also strive to attend conferences and participate in nursing legislation. Each year, usually spring semester, UWF SNA attends advocacy days in Tallahassee. This gives us the ability to meet and network with legislators on issues we believe should be known, while also being able to review pending legislations.

The Archaeology Institute is one of several complementary units that focus on anthropology and
archaeology at the University of West Florida. The Institute also oversees the operations and
activities of the Marine Services Center (MSC), which is a unit under Academic Affairs. This
document pertains to the Archaeology Institute.

The Archaeology Institute is dedicated to the support of academic programs at the University of
West Florida through the investigation, preservation, and enhancement of archaeological
resources, and through public outreach, education, and training opportunities for students and the
public. The important values of archaeological resources are communicated by involving
undergraduate and graduate students and the public in archaeological research. Formal classes,
workshops, public lectures, exhibits, publications, and other high-impact practices are conducted
and produced by Institute staff and Department faculty alongside students in Anthropology. The
Institute further makes equipment and workspaces available to faculty, staff, and students
engaged in instruction, research, and service at UWF.
The Institute plays an integral part in the training, education, and professionalization of students
at UWF. Through direct, hands-on and high-impact practices like conducting archaeological
research and fieldwork for clients, developing research designs and implementing them,
supporting Masters thesis research, and contributing to original research and reporting of
archaeological investigations, students can, under the tutelage of Institute professionals, gain
marketable skills necessary for a wide variety of cultural resource management and preservation,
museum and research institutes, higher education, and private contractual careers. The
Archaeology Institute further supports faculty in the Department of Anthropology (and others)
through materials and supplies (including maritime services like boats and dive lockers), labor,
and laboratory space needed to complete research.

The University of West Florida cheer program is a student organization. The primary focus of the cheer program will be on academics prior to cheering to find a balance between becoming an excellent student as well as a cheerleader. The West Florida cheerleaders support the athletic teams by generating crowd excitement and school spirit. Squad members hold great responsibility in the fact that each member is an ambassador to the University and represents the athletic department, school, city and state. The UWF Fencing Club (Salle McAfee) is an award-winning organization dedicated to the rediscovery and reconstruction of historical European martial arts (HEMA). It is one of the premiere organizations for historical swordsmanship in the Southeast, with a particular focus on the rapier. The club also features other forms of swordsmanship, such as arming sword, longsword, sabre, and various sidearms for these weapons. The club also features modern sport fencing, including foil, epee, and sabre. The fencing club competes in various Southeastern tournaments. It is open to all UWF students with no try-outs required and maintains an open-door policy with many practices structured for casual members in addition to its competitive program.

The HEMA Fencing club does not require fees or dues, but donations are greatly encouraged and appreciated. Gear and great instruction are provided for members of the club. After an individual becomes sufficiently knowledgeable on proper footwork and basic blade mechanics, The individual will be tested in a semi-free sparring match with a club officer. If deemed safe, that student will then be given permission to free spar and branch into any direction of fencing that they could ever dream of. No experience is required and the club does offer loaner gear for free.

From there, students may continue studying the in-depth practicing of historical fencing masters as well as train for competitions and tournaments.

The club informally maintains the name Salle McAfee, named for the former club instructor Ron McAfee who was killed in a car accident in January 2005.
